Try to get back in the habit

Artist: Cake
Album: Pressure Chief
Rating: 7/10
You May Have Heard: No Phone
Recommended: She'll Hang the Baskets
Fan Success: Unknown. This album seems to have had little to no effect on the masses.
Artistic Success: Makes a worthwhile half hour of quirk, as only Cake can provide. Although not as enriching as Fashion Nugget and not as assured as Comfort Eagle, Pressure Chief, Cake's fifth album, is a well-packaged piece of Cake, showcasing a perfect example of how less is more.

Artist: Jimmy Eat World
Album: Futures
Rating: 8/10
You May Have Heard: Pain, Work
Recommended: Night Drive
Fan Success: Upon initial release, yes. Crowds were pleased to hear that Jimmy Eat World were able to confidently follow-up their previous huge success. Not much happened after the release, aside from "Pain" assimilating itself into the mainstream roster.
Artistic Success: Absolutely. Jimmy Eat World had the sensibility in their craft to avoid gimmicks, growing and maturing with this album, sounding like themselves without replicating either their "older" tough love style nor their pop radio sound of Bleed American, both of which worked, but not to the extent that Futures does. Rarely does a band come along so far before producing an album which is a pretty good place to start, but if you've never really listened to the band before now, Futures is actually a great place to start.

I need to keep doing this.

I almost went to a J.E.W. concert tomorrow night, but I'm working instead. :o( Considering I haven't heard their new CD, I'm not too bummed out. ;o) Looks like I should give it a try, though, eh? Since I loved the first one? :o)

Have you considered writing reviews for a paper or something? How much fun would that be??? :o) Or an e-zine or something.

If you loved the one that came out in 2001 (it wasn't their first one) - then you will probably like Futures - I think it's a little better.

I always consider getting these kinds of writings published. It's my dream. I appreciate the encouragement.

Don't work too hard :)
